A Brief History of the Proprietors

Rodney and Yvonne Dawson

Rodney has spent forty years in the hotel and catering industry. He trained as a chef at The Cumberland Hotel at Marble Arch and continued onto management, progressing to operational management for a large international company for some thirty seven years, before taking early retirement to purchase Jasper's in 1999. During his career he was responsible for some twenty one catering establishments in the city of London including The Guildhall, catering for the Lord Mayor of London and the Royal Artillery company. During his time he organised many banquets for and including the Royal Family, members of government together with responsibilities for a number of entertainment venues in London's West End together with hotels and holiday centres throughout the UK.

Yvonne stemmed from an entertainment background working with her twin sister and met Rodney whilst working in London. Rodney and Yvonne married in 1974 and after she spent time as a housewife and mother bringing up their two daughters. They moved to Hayling Island in 1985. Yvonne then took on the role of receptionist and accounts at Hayling's Beach Road Garage, until joining Rodney as a joint partner of Jasper's when they brought the business in 1999. She now takes responsibility for the smooth running of the waiting staff, control of the accounting system and all the other mundane tasks of laundry etc.
